THE OZY YOUTH CHOIR HONOURING DEFENCE SERVICE
More than a choir, The OZY Youth Choir Honouring Defence Service brings music and history together to inspire and develop young leaders with a focus on commemoration, education and welfare. They bring civilians, veterans and current serving defence families together in regional and rural areas of NSW through the arts. This unique choir gives everyone a place to belong (regardless of where they are posted) and a place to shine.
Practicing mostly online, they come together to perform for local, national and international events such as this. They are a seriously fun choir with a community spirit bringing the spirit of the Aussie bush to the stage. While they take commemoration seriously, they are a little bit quirky or “larrikin" and like to have fun just like the Singin’ Soldiers of WWI (as CJ Dennis put it)!
On a more serious note, they have sung at many important events such as the opening of Invictus Games Sydney and at NSW Government House. They have recently come back from a singing Remembrance Tour of the Western Front where they sang in some very special places such as the Arc de Triumph in Paris, the trenches of WWI and at the Last Post Ceremony at Menin Gate.
